Worked example

Total stake £100 across selections at 3.0 and 4.0. Stakes split: 4 / (3+4) × £100 = £57.14 on the 3.0 leg, £42.86 on the 4.0 leg. Locked return = £171.42 either way.

Common questions

Why dutch?

You either narrow a market to two strong options and lock the win, or arbitrage across books to capture mispricings.

Is dutching the same as arbitrage?

Arbitrage is dutching that guarantees a profit. Plain dutching just locks an equal return — that return might still be a loss.
